What is it?

Cubetwt is a twitter community centred around typology and the avatars of an admittedly bad personality test.

Common topics of discussion are the avatars from the 16 personalities test, 4 letter types, enneagram and more elements of typology.

It is important to note that cubetwt generally adheres to Jungian typology, and NOT MBTI.
Please educate yourself on the history of Myers-Briggs, and understand why we are distancing ourselves from that.

Here is a link to @isfpencil’s carrd explaining this further.

In cubetwt, people refer to the 16 Personalities avatars as “the cubes” due to their geometric nature, hence giving cubetwt its name. These avatars are shipped, drawn fanart and occasionally written fanfiction.

16 Personalities themselves do not seem to want anything to do with cubetwt and I feel obligated to say that they have, thus far, had no affiliation with us. We also do not type ourselves through the 16 Personalities test (again, please refer to @isfpencil’s carrd) and there is a general consensus in the community that it is not a good test to determine your 4 letter type. Despite this, there is also a general consensus that the graphics are pretty neat and we engage with them a lot.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about the community.

“Why are you supporting MBTI? It’s racist.”

We don’t support MBTI. (Carrd). We do however, acknowledge the impact that MBTI has had on the typology community, educate ourselves on Myers-Briggs and actively work to distance ourselves from it without erasing the nature of Myers-Brigg’s actions. One example is by referring to what many people would call “an MBTI” as a Four Letter Type, or just a 4LT.

“Why not use 16 Personalities to type yourself?”

In the eyes of the typology community, 16 Personalities is a lawless website. What 16P has essentially done is take the Big 5 personality model and squeeze it into a four letter type format. That’s why there’s actually five elements of the test results instead of four, considering that you can be typed as “assertive” or “turbulent “.

“So how do you figure out your 4LT?”

We use cognitive functions- these are based on how someone processes information, and every type has a certain order of the functions (a “stack”). You would of course, type yourself as the type who’s function stack closest resembles your own. Cognitive functions are a learning journey for many cubetwt newcomers, but for your first glimpse you may want to consider taking the Sakinorva or Keys2Cognition test.

“When did this community form? How?”

May 2020. The first signs of cubetwt forming was the entpbot. It was created to “spew random bullshit nonsense every 30 minutes, just like a real entp”. Eventually, the first cubetwt members joined in and roleplayed as exaggerated versions of their types and this eventually formed a community.

“Who is this community made up of?”

A lot of us are minors but there is an adult population as well. Additionally, many of us are neurodivergent. Cubetwt members come from all around the world.

“Is this the only typology community on Twitter?”

Not at all. If you feel cubetwt’s members are too young for you to engage with, or you don’t fancy the “cube” aspect of our typology community, there are plenty of alternative accounts to follow that are engaged in typology. This doesn’t mean there aren’t overlaps, though.

“So you unironically ship and draw fanart of the 16 Personalities avatars?”

Absolutely! We think it’s fun. Cubetwt is a community filled with both creativity and resources on the more technical side of typology.

Jargon

At the time of writing, cubetwt is a little dead. But here’s something to help you to decipher anything you might come across.

Cubetwt Specific

F![type], M![type], NB![type]

Used for indicating female, male and nonbinary versions of the 16 Personalities avatars.

When you randomly come across words like “starry night” or “bullet train”

These are ship names, but often people use X![type] x X![type]. Don’t be afraid to ask.

Cubes

The avatars from 16 Personalities.

Analysts, Diplomats, Sentinels, Explorers

The groupings of these cubes. Analysts (XNTX) are purple, Diplomats (XNFX) are green, Sentinels (XSXJ) are blue, and Explorers (XSXP) are yellow.

Enneagram

Enneagram

The second most commonly used typology system in this community. Enneagrams come as a number from 1-9, and all numbers along this scale represent a different set of desires and fears. Enneagrams are commonly written with a “wing” (a number at either side of the enneagram which the user identifies most strongly with). You will see things like 9w1 (nine wing one) or 4w3 (four wing three).

Core type, “[number] core”

The enneagram of which you identify most strongly.

Instinctual Variants

A form of specification for enneagram. The three instinctual variants are so (social), sx (sexual) and sp (self preservation). They show what deeper motivations lie behind your enneagram. They are written as [first instinct of most importantce]/[second instinct of most importance] whilst the instinct in last place is not shown. For instance, so/sp.

Integration/Disintegration (enneagram)

Enneagrams can either integrate (pick up the healthy traits of another enneagram) or disintegrate (pick up the unhealthy traits of another enneagram) and these processes correspond with levels of health within the enneagram user. It should be noted that

Tritype

To first understand this, know that enneagram numbers are split into three triads. Gut (8, 9, 1), Heart (2, 3, 4), and Head (5, 6, 7). A tritype, as the name implies, is three numbers, one from each triad, ordered by importance. For instance, 952 identifies most strongly with 9 out of the entire enneagram, most strongly with 5 from the head section, and most strongly with 2 from the heart section.

4LT and Broader Typology

Ti, Se, Fe etc

Not chemical elements, function names. The first letter will represent Thinking, Feeling, Sensing or Intuition (intuition being represented by an “N” instead of an “I”) and will be a capital letter. The second letter, in lowercase, is either i or e, to represent that the function is introverted or extraverted.

Typing (verb, in the sense of typology)

To attempt to figure out someone’s typology.

Mistype

Someone who has typed themselves wrongly, or been typed wrongly by other people.

Socionics

Another typology system relying on cognitive functions that is arguably more complex.

Alignment, Moral Alignment

Not really a typology system but widely believed to originate in Dungeons and Dragons character creation, where your character alignment could be “chaotic good” or “lawful evil”. Some people still like to use these labels for fun.

Please regard this section as incomplete :(

Etiquette

Please use #cubetwt to share any art you may have made of the avatars! This allows us to find it easily. Please don’t use the hashtag for things that aren’t creative endeavours regarding the cubes.

Don’t call someone a mistype, it’s kinda rude. Let them figure things out at their own place but if you truly feel (and know!) they’re doing something wrong, correct misconceptions.

DO NOT ask to be typed by others if they don’t state anywhere that they can do it. Don’t push any sort of typology crisis on others unless you’re doing it unobtrusively, like hosting a poll or a question on your own account. Please respect that more experienced people may ask for fees for their help.

Don’t go crazy dissing one of the avatars. Everyone has different tastes and there isn’t any kind of universally hated avatar.

And please don’t post NSFW stuff where minors could see it.
